THE HATHERSAGE HURTLE – TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

By entering the Hathersage Hurtle you are agreeing to abide by these conditions and any other instructions given to you by the organisers and officials of the Hathersage Hurtle.

Age limit: All entrants must be at least 18 years of age.

Registration: Opens at 7:15am.

Start times: Walkers may start at any time between 8:00 am and 9:00 am. Runners have a mass start at 10:00am.

Emergency Contact: On entry you must provide an emergency contact (name and telephone number) that we can contact during the Hathersage Hurtle if there is a problem.

Timing chip: At registration we will provide you with a timing chip to record your time. You agree to return the timing chip at the finish of the Hathersage Hurtle, even if you retire early. If you fail to return the timing chip, we will be entitled to charge you for the replacement cost of the chip and an administration fee.

Cancellation by you: You may cancel your entry at any point until three weeks before the Hathersage Hurtle. You will receive a refund amounting to half of the entry fee. Cancellation requests received after the three week cut-off are not eligible for a refund.

Transfers: We do not allow entries to be transferred. If you are found to have transferred your entry or to have allowed another person to wear your race number, we reserve the right to exclude you (and the other person) from future participation in the Hathersage Hurtle.

Deferrals: We do not allow entries to be deferred. 

Cancellation by us: We may cancel the Hathersage Hurtle if circumstances beyond our reasonable control arise. In the event of our cancellation, you will receive a refund of the entry fee minus Fabian 4’s administration charge of £3.00. We will have no responsibility for any costs incurred as a result of the cancellation including any travel or accommodation costs.

The course: The Hathersage Hurtle is a fixed route with eight checkpoints. Anyone found to be taking short cuts between checkpoints will be disqualified. The route crosses private land and you are requested to keep to footpaths and honour the Countryside Code. Entrants are not permitted to run/walk with dogs.

Safety:  In the case of bad weather we have a mandatory kit list that will be enforced and we reserve the right to refuse entry for any participant who does not have the specified kit as follows:

  • Waterproof coat with hood and taped seams
  • Waterproof trousers with taped seams
  • Gloves
  • Hat
  • Emergency food
  • Compass/Whistle/Map of the route
  • Appropriate footwear

Random spot checks will be carried out before and after the race.  The kit list requirements may be relaxed in the case of good weather and this will be emailed out in the final race instructions.

Every entrant is responsible for their own personal safety during the race, especially at road crossings

If you need to drop out of the race, you must tell a marshal. If you cannot contact a marshal, you must call the emergency contact number.

T-shirt orders and cancellations

T-shirt orders must be complete by 28th March 2026

You are entitled to a 100% refund on your t-shirt order up until 28th March 2026.

If you cancel your place after 28th March 2026 by default your t shirt order will be cancelled and will be donated for resale on the day. If you instead wish to collect your t shirt you need to amend the cancellation options to still include the no. of t-shirts you originally ordered. 

Please arrange for someone to collect your t-shirt if you cannot.

Food and drink

There will be food stations across the course and at the event field (both offered as part of the race and to purchase).
Most of the food items have been made and donated by the local community outside commercial production environments and contents/allergens/ingredients will not always be listed. Please ensure you are happy with any items offered to ensure they meet your own allergen or dietary needs.

Food orders

Food and drink orders can be cancelled for a full refund up until 28th March 2026 after which no refund will be given.

We have adopted the following policy regarding eligibility for categories:
Category: Female
1. Female athletes who are recorded as female from birth.
Category: Male/ Open
2. Male athletes and anyone who cannot satisfy 1 above
