One of the unique and special things about the Hathersage Hurtle is its spectacular location in the heart of the Peak National Park. During the organisation of the Hurtle, every effort is made by the team to reduce the event’s impact on the local environment.

A key area that can have a positive effect on both the carbon footprint of the event and the local community itself, is by considering modes of transport to and from the Hope Valley.

The village of Hathersage is very well served by public transport, including both train and bus routes and details of these are given below. Alternatively, for those competitors who must drive to reach the event, please do consider if it is possible to share a lift with others.

For those wanting to travel by public transport, we have changing facilities and safe storage for your belongings.

Please do consider not bringing the car!  There’s some helpful links below

Please note for those with dogs, they are not allowed on the start and finish field or anywhere on the course.  thank you.

For those who came last year when we lost access to the parking field, we had very few people turn up in cars so it is possible for the majority to enjoy the event minus the car.

Lift Share

This year we will be making use of a lift share website to give people the opportunity to find people near them also going to the event.  More details to follow. We will forward details of this to all participants in advance of the event so arrangements can be made.  NB we do not share personal data with this service, each competitor who wants to use the service must first sign up.
