Entries for HH-2021 open again in early December. Announced through our amazing Facebook Community

Hello lovely Hurtlers!

Regretfully, we have to tell you that we have made the very difficult decision not to hold the Hathersage Hurtle at all in 2020. We are as gutted as you are. We have looked long and hard into the logistics of postponing the event until later in the year, but we have concluded that it just isn’t possible. We are so sorry.

BUT! One brilliant bit of news in all the gloom … Everyone who managed to secure a place for this year’s Hathersage Hurtle will be automatically entered into next year’s event, which will be on … ready? …. 22 May 2021!

Just think, no setting reminders for the entry date, no scrambling to register at 6pm on the dot, no waiting lists to contend with … just a year of glorious training time and an even bigger, brighter, more brilliant Hurtle to look forward to!

If you can’t or don’t wish to Hurtle on 22 May 2021, we will be very sad indeed. We will cancel your entry and refund your fee, minus a small charge levied by our race entry system.

However, may we be a teeny bit bold and ask you to please consider donating your entry fee if you decide to cancel? The Hathersage Hurtle is a major fundraising event for our little village primary school, and the loss of income will really hit them hard. Processing lots of refunds will also be a large job for the volunteers who run the event.

That said, we totally understand that many of you will also be counting your pennies, particularly at the moment, so please be assured that there is absolutely no obligation to donate your entry fee and we won’t judge you in any way if you’d just like your money back.

If you want to take up your automatic place in the 2021 Hurtle, hurrah! You can just sit back, plan your training regime in the sun and bask in the knowledge that your entry is done and dusted. Well done!

If you’d like to cancel but you’re happy to donate your entry fee, we’re very sorry we won’t see you but we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity. Just let us know by 1 July 2020 that this is your preferred option, either by commenting below, by sending us a private message or by emailing hathersagehurtle@gmail.com.

If you can’t join us and you’d like a refund, please let us know by 1 July 2020, either by commenting below, by sending us a private message or by emailing hathersagehurtle@gmail.com. We’ll sort out the rest for you.

We’d like to thank every single one of you for your massive support of the Hathersage Hurtle every year. We absolutely love chatting with you before the event, we love cheering you on as you hurtle over the hills, and we love watching you bound over the finish line, often accompanied by Scouts, to triumph and cakes and beer.

We will miss you all, and we don’t need to tell you how sad we are that we can’t see you this year. We really, really hope you’ll come back to Hurtle with us again in 2021. The hills will still be there.

The Hathersage Hurtle is an exciting event in the Hope Valley, covering 20 miles and 2,800 feet of ascent, a challenging course that you can run or walk. It will start and finish in Hathersage with walkers setting off before a mass start for the runners at 10am. There will be hot drinks available at the start and lovely home-baked cakes at the finish.

and collect your items on race day

Thanks for a great race and to all the volunteers, especially those who made the cakes…. I’ve never needed to diet after a race before!!

Was a fabulous run! Soo well organised and really well marked even though you were in the middle of nowhere! Super friendly marshalls..and will be recommending this to my friends….well done! xx

Thanks to all the volunteers, these events couldn’t happen without them, and they were all smiling and offering bucket loads of encouragement, brilliant.
